"When it comes to facials, trust is key. A great facialist will know when you’ve spent too many late nights out, aren’t drinking enough H2O, and can see the stress of your recent breakup even before the steam turns on. So, when I asked my most trusted S.F. sources to tell me their most trusted facialist, their unanimous and enthusiastic answer—Sarah Becker—had me at hello. So Miha and I headed up the California coast to take a Chic Peek into her beauty boudoir, in an old Victorian apartment that she shares with TNails (manicures) and Habit (waxing). Upon entering Sarah’s amazingly charming workspace, which is decorated with nods to her love for nature, we were instantly smitten!
Sarah, who grew up in Connecticut, studied ceramics in college, but it wasn’t until her mid-twenties that she realized she wanted to become an aesthetician. Her lightbulb moment: ‘One day my roommate received a letter from her sister who was studying esthetics at the Aveda Institute in Minneapolis, and six months later I was there. I knew it’s what I had to do.’ Sarah opened her eponymous shop in 2010 after working at two other spas in San Francisco, and the rest is skin care history.”
